Random Rant - 24/03/2009
Welcome to the Gaming-Dead website ghouls and gheists.
This is Al, which probably won’t be my permenent screen name but whatever, posting to rant on a few things.
*takes a deep breath and pulls the trigger*
Ever notice how trendy it is to be dead now. I mean, horror movies have always had a following either for the gore or the cheap boob shots, but certain movies have been blurring the line and I really don’t think that’s a very good thing. Think back people… think back, wayyyyy back… knives for fingers… scary… bloody hockey masks… scary… creepy little brothers… scary… animated dolls… scary… ROMANCE VAMPIRES THAT WANT TO HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX WITH YOUR TEENAGE DAUGHTERS… FUCKING SAD!!!!
Creatures of the night are not after your panties little ones, rest assured. They want your life, your blood, your fear… maybe to a certain extent your Warcraft information… but it stops right there. The closest thing evil can come to romance is in the movie Slither, which was very funny (ok, now your all gonna complain about me saying horror was funny, but then Im ranting about it being romantic… WELL IT AIN’T THE SAME). Harry Potter Vampires…
Go rent Let The Right One In and talk to me about Vampires afterwards. I haven’t seen it myself, but I sure love to have opinions on everything
Also, I read alot from work, and comparing the many reviews I have read for each, my opinion stands. Im gonna watch it at some point… honest. Once I do, the world will know cause I won’t be able to shut up about it the first week
You know, now that I think of it, the only reason a vampire would want to be intrested in a girls sexual organs is for the free meal that comes once a month on tap. Hmmm… theres an intresting idea for a Vampire Bar… I can visualize the commercial now… Tired of chasing your meal around?… Want a effortless drink?… Come on down to It Ain’t Pure, but It’s Drinkable… Sometimes!
Good thing Im a zombie, or I wouldn’t have anything to blame how sad that last section was.
Seriously though, I can name a few vampire movies that where good ones, but the recent vampire drought has been a bit decieveing, and now its being filled with the watered-down version, which is stupid. We saw what kind of subtext there was between Louis and Claudia in Interview with a Vampire and noone liked it… Do you think it was the age difference… maybe, but who cares. The point is the only real action in that movie was between Louis and Lestat, and that was hinted as well, but not explored, thank god… It would have been Interview with the Brokeback Boys… with dead horses cause Louis would have drained them out of fear of enjoying human blood… sigh.
The other movie Im gonna mention is the Underworld series. I have not seen the third installment, and frankly, I don’t know if I should. In my experience, this series is like the Die Hard of vampire flicks. Its action packed, filled with beautiful people, and has a good budget for special effects. You know, if they where going to make a series, I vote re-making the interview with a vampire series with actors who aren’t too worried about thier image to do the whole series, cause as it stands Queen of the Damned was so awful it peeled the paint off my walls.
So what do we need now, to create balance… do we need a great underground vampire series that we can convert into film and butcher, or do we need a epic blockbuster coved in vampires, sci-fi and destruction? If we need the latter, Im working on a script
Now that I think of it, how come White Wolf never made a vampire movie… they have games, books, a role-playing system… seems like the next logical step no… for those who don’t know, White Wolf is to vampires what TSR is to Dungeon and Dragons.
*Jerks head away from the computer, smelling something yummy near by*
Lunch time for me. You know what being a zombie reminds me of, Pepe Lepew… your prey is always running, running, running… but no matter how fast they run, I can limp faster
The Dead Rise Again
It’s been a long time coming. Gaming Dead is going through some renovations. As I’m sure many of you can tell by our lack of content. Previously, GD was a two person editorial team. We’ve added two new editors to contribute: Alain and Patrick. These guys are awesome, so worship them. They deserve it.
Originally, Gaming Dead was meant to be a web comic. Sadly that idea was quickly swept under the carpet as it proved to be more work than we had time for. However, with our new staff GD is dragging the comic idea out of the dark and exposing it to new creative light. I ask that you look forward to this new feature with child-like giddiness.
